NHL Rumors: Surprising Rumor Emerges On Calle Jarnkrok's NHL Future
A Swedish report has claimed that veteran forward Calle Järnkrok had verbally agreed to return to Brynäs IF next season, a move that would almost certainly end his NHL career.
The news, first reported by Aftonbladet’s Hans Abrahamsson and echoed by Swedish outlet Expressen, suggested Järnkrok was preparing a homecoming once his contract expires after the 2025-26 season.

Within hours, Järnkrok’s agent Filip Andreason issued a forceful rebuttal. “The information is incorrect and unfounded,” Andreason told TSN, insisting no negotiations have taken place with Brynäs or any other club for next season.

That denial adds a layer of uncertainty but does little to quiet questions about Järnkrok’s long-term future, especially given that Toronto already attempted to move the 34-year-old earlier this season and failed to find a taker for his $2.1 million cap hit.
Järnkrok has been limited to 19 games this year, posting four goals and averaging 11:35 of ice time as injuries and a crowded depth chart pushed him into a 13th-forward role.

Despite an efficient start and a reputation as a reliable two-way contributor, the Leafs’ front office is clearly prioritizing a search for top-six scoring help over adding another veteran winger.
Though his camp denies a done deal with Brynäs, the timing of the Swedish report, along with his shrinking role in Toronto, has fueled speculation that he may eventually return home to finish his career where it began.
