NHL Trade Rumors: Canucks & Senators Emerging as Trade Partners
The Ottawa Senators and Vancouver Canucks have been linked to a pre-deadline deal, involving Canucks' pesky forward Kiefer Sherwood. The Canucks are open for business and with the Senators pushing for making some noise in the playoffs, they see Sherwood as a great fit for their lineup.

Sherwood, 30, earns $1.5 million AAV and doesn't have any trade protection. Sherwood's having a great season on a very bad team, posting 13 goals and 17 points in 33 games. The bang-and-crash winger loves to throw the body around, which will fit in nicely with the Senators, as he's laid a whopping 146 hits this season.

Ottawa has $2.7 million in cap space at the moment and they'd love to win the Sherwood sweepstakes. It's going to take their 2026 second rounder and a top prospect to get the job done, or perhaps, they look to move their 2027 first rounder. The Canucks have been receiving a ton of interest since they notified the rest of the league they're open for business, so Sherwood's trade is going to be an overpay.

The Senators are expected to be active adding this season as they want to make a huge jump this year. Sherwood would give them another element of secondary scoring, he plays in all situations, and his playing style would fit in perfectly for the Sens.
