NHL Trade Rumors: LA Kings making trade offers for top-six winger

The Los Angeles Kings found Phillip Danault a new home, and word is, general manager Ken Holland is far from finished.

Rumor has the Kings have been calling teams to see which of their top-six forwards are available, and at what price. The Kings want to add an impact forward, and with Anze Kopitar retiring, know they can handle a big contract with term longer than this season. Kopitar is owed $7 million AAV this season.

The Kings received a second-round pick in 2026 for Danault, originally the Columbus Blue Jackets', and also have two third-rounders in next year's draft as well. They have a number of NHL ready prospects, they have some young talent on their roster, and Holland currently has $9.4 million in cap space.

There's been some speculation about who the Kings could target, which is a long list that includes Calgary Flames Nazem Kadri and Blake Coleman, Nashville Predators' Steven Stamkos, St. Louis Blues' Brayden Schenn, Pittsburgh Penguins' Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell, and Alex Tuch from the Buffalo Sabres.

David Pagnotta: Re Kings: They're actively looking for scoring, they wanna bring in somebody that can fit on the first or second line on the wing; and now you've got an extra 2nd round pick to dangle [from Danault trade] - Hello Hockey (12/19)

The Kings enter the Christmas week with a 15-10-9 record, sitting in the first wild-car spot, up just two points on the San Jose Sharks. It's going to be a fun second-half of the NHL season, and expect to see the Kings buying ahead of the trade deadline.
