Report: 6 Teams Made Trade Offers for Quinn Hughes

The Vancouver Canucks listened to trade offers for a few weeks on defenceman Quinn Hughes, and from the sounds of it, there were quite a few deals to mull over.

According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, six teams made offers for Hughes, with of course, the one Jim Rutherford ended up accepting coming from Bill Guerin and the Minnesota Wild.

The Wild ended up sending four pieces to the Canucks, including a center with top-six abilities. The New Jersey Devils' offer was rumored to be a combination of Dawson Mercer, Seamus Casey, and Simon Nemec. Meanwhile, the Detroit Red Wings have loads of young talent, but were rumored to declined including Lucas Raymond in the deal.

As for the Rangers, they're offer was likely centered around Alexis Lafreniere and a couple of other pieces, but they didn't have much for a 'wow' factor to appeal to Rutherford. The Canucks wanted a center, they wanted a young defenceman with top-pair potential and they wanted two other pieces.

Hughes ends up in Minnesota, and now the Wild have two playoff runs with one of the best defencemen in the game. Hughes' agent made it clear he's not going to sign an extension next July regardless of where he was traded to, so now we'll have to wait and see how long Hughes stays in Minnesota and if Guerin can lock him up long term.

Winning solves everything.
