Canucks Trade Rumors: 3 Players Involved in Ongoing Trade Talks

The Vancouver Canucks are open for business as Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin have been busy in conversations. The team is struggling, they haven't met expectations this season, and with Quinn Hughes already shipped out, several players will be next.

All the attention has been on Kiefer Sherwood, who is a pending free agent and having a career season. These talks have advanced, meanwhile Sherwood has been given one last contract offer to accept, and if he doesn't in the next 48 hours, look for Sherwood to be moved next week. He's owed $1.5 million this season, doesn't have any trade protection, and has scored 17 goals in 41 games.

Evander Kane is another forward who the Canucks are expected to trade. The veteran pesky winger has a 16-team no-trade clause, so he'll have some say in the matter. Kane's recorded 6 goals, and 19 points in 40 games, averaging 17:05 of ice-time per game. He's owed $5.1 million this season and is also a pending free agent.

Jake DeBrusk rounds out the Canucks forwards who teams are calling about, as talks have picked up on the veteran winger since he was made a healthy scratch not long ago. DeBrusk hasn't been able to find his form with the Canucks, scoring just 10 goals in 40 games this season, meanwhile earning $5.5 million AAV. DeBrusk is signed through the 2030-31 season and for another season has a full no-movement clause. There's been some rumblings the Boston Bruins are open to reuniting, and they also have interest in Sherwood, which could wind up being a significant deal between the two clubs.

As for Kane, the Canucks will surely have to retain some money when he's dealt, which will help increase the return. With 32 goals in 97 Stanley Cup playoff games, there's going to be several contenders interested. Trades are expected to pick up these next few weeks, as many insiders feel GM's will use the Olympic break as a mini trade deadline. Kane's been linked to the Anaheim Ducks, New York Islanders, and Tampa Bay Lightning.

Keep an eye on the Canucks, sounds like several moves coming these next couple of weeks.
