Flames Rumors: Update On Blake Coleman & Nazem Kadri Trade Talks
On the 32 Thoughts podcast, Friedman said he has “nothing to add” on Kadri, while adding that there’s “a lot of interest” in Coleman, even if Coleman himself would be fine staying put in Calgary.
Friedman’s read on Coleman interest
Coleman’s name keeps coming up because he checks every contender box: middle six versatility, playoff edge, and he has done it on the biggest stage as part of Tampa Bay Lightning back to back Cup runs.
Friedman also pushed back on the idea that the Montreal Canadiens are automatically the lane here, noting he has heard from teams saying not to assume Montreal has the inside track.

On top of that, Coleman is currently on injured reserve, which naturally slows any momentum, but not the overall market interest.
This season, he has 13 goals and 21 total points across 44 games played.
Where Kadri stands right now
Kadri is the other name people keep circling, but Friedman’s update was basically that there's no fresh intel to move the story forward.
Nazem Kadri has just one assist over the last nine games. Unless he turns it around soon, he'll likely see his overall scoring dip for a second straight season. #FantasyHockey #Flames pic.twitter.com/nBSefuGtpy

Calgary’s recent slide has reopened the conversation around bigger moves, and Kadri’s situation has been framed elsewhere as a player who could be open to the right contender opportunity, with term and protection details that make any deal more complicated.
Kadri has eight goals and 32 total points across 46 games played this season.
