10 Potential Trade Destinations for Vincent Trocheck

New York Rangers center Vincent Trocheck skates with the puck

Vincent Trocheck is right near the top of most NHL trade boards as we get set to close in on the March 6 deadline. The New York Rangers are looking to sell, and Trocheck's gritty, two-way play, plus his reasonable cap hit of $5.625 for another three years, has many teams salivating about adding him.

Vince Mercogliano of The Athletic has proposed a list of 10 potential trade destinations for Trocheck. And while the player does have a 12-team no-trade list to keep in mind, the insider lists 10 teams to watch on the Trocheck trade front:

(in alphabetical order)

  • Boston Bruins
  • Carolina Hurricanes
  • Colorado Avalanche
  • Dallas Stars
  • Detroit Red Wings
  • Los Angeles Kings
  • Minnesota Wild
  • New York Islanders
  • Pittsburgh Penguins
  • Utah Mammoth

Plenty of playoff teams looking for a top-six center like Trocheck

It's a lengthy list, with all of those teams having intentions of making some noise in the playoffs—though let's admit that some will be much noisier than others.

The Hurricanes will always be tied to the biggest names on the trade market, as will the Avs and Stars, who are fighting tooth-and-nail to keep the other from getting any big edge at this point, so they will be bidding hard.

The Red Wings are said to be looking for a top-six center with term, so their inclusion here makes sense.

The Kings are 28th in the NHL in goals per game; they need more offense, even after acquiring Artemi Panarin, so why not go for the Bread Man's good friend and ex-teammate?

The Wild are looking for a top-six center, and Trocheck would fit the bill.

The Bruins, Islanders, Penguins & Mammoth are all hopeful of hanging on to their unexpected playoff perches at this point, and adding a player like Trocheck could go a long way to getting them to the promised land. He is, by the way, from Pittsburgh. So there's that.

Trocheck is coming off four straight 20-goal seasons, though he is currently sitting on 12 goals, with 36 points in 43 games.
