Canucks Set High Price For Teddy Blueger
The Vancouver Canucks are a clear seller this season after the couple of moves already made earlier this season. They are going to continue moving what they can and one of the players that will be traded is Teddy Blueger, but the price might be a little high for some to hold onto interest and not shop around elsewhere, but just right for others.
Thomas Drance reported, "Based on what I'm hearing about Teddy Blueger's market value, Vancouver is looking for at least a third-round pick."
That's not too bad if a team, maybe someone like the Edmonton Oilers, want to bring in someone who knows their role, has some offensive talent, but is also just a solid role/depth player that can play center. He has five goals and eight points in 10 games this season. While it's a smaller sample size, he's playing two more minutes per game than last season, plays nearly two minutes per game on the penalty kill, and is good defensively.
On a bad team like the Canucks, his numbers shouldn't be all that good and his underlying numbers will be better elsewhere, but his ice time will surely decrease. The way Blueger is playing definitely helps the Canucks in finding what they're looking for as a return for the center. He is cheap at $1.8 million AAV and is a UFA after the season. A third-round pick seems like the right asking price as no team is likely to go higher than that for a pending UFA who's a third liner.
Unless the Canucks are willing to move players with term, Blueger seems like the most likely player to move and will garner the best return from here on out.
