Blues continue to reject trade offers on multiple players
The St. Louis Blues may be open for business, but that doesn't mean general manager Doug Armstrong is going to give in on his high demands.
There's been trade offers trickling in over the last few days for Robert Thomas, Justin Faulk, Jordan Binnington and Colton Parayko, but Armstrong is asking for significant returns for his assets.
Thomas has been linked to the Boston Bruins, but Armstrong's been rumored to be asking for at least one first-round pick and Fraser Minten, but at this point, the Bruins continue to offer prospects instead of any young roster players. Thomas has also been linked to the Seattle Kraken and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Parayko is coming off a terrible Olympic showing, so opposing GM's aren't giving in on Armstrong's high demands. The towering defenceman has four years left on his contract at $6.5 million AAV, and so far the Blues have yet to receive a list of teams Parayko would approve a trade to. A lot can change over the next few days.
Binnington's trade market has been quieter than expected after his solid showing at the Olympics. The Montreal Canadiens are trying to land a goaltender with experience for their playoff run and it sounds like they're down to either Binnington or Florida Panthers' Sergei Bobrovsky.
Justin Faulk is the one Blue who appears most likely to be dealt. There's a huge market for right-handed defencemen, so Armstrong will be able to land a significant trade package in return. Faulk can do it all, plays both sides of special teams, top-four minutes, and can run a power play. He owns a 15-team no-trade clause and has some say in the matter, and is signed through next season at $6.5 million AAV.
Keep an eye on the Blues, they'll be making some moves, but for now, Armstrong is working a hard bargain.
