Breaking: Hurricanes Sign Brandon Bussi To Multi-Year Extension

All aboard the Bussi in Raleigh. The Carolina Hurricanes have signed breakthrough goaltender Brandon Bussi to a three-year extension with a $1.9 million AAV.

The 27-year-old rookie has been a sensation this season for the Hurricanes after being claimed off waivers just before the start of the campaign in October. He's posted a 23-3-1 record with a .906 save percentage and a 2.16 goals against average. Bussi set the all-time NHL record for fastest goalie to 10 wins, in only his 11th start this season. He then did the same for the 15-win mark, in his 18th start between the pipes. He then did the same in reaching the 20-win mark in record time, in just 24 starts.

"Before we brought him to Raleigh, Brandon had been successful at every level from the USHL to college to the AHL," said GM Eric Tulsky. "Given the opportunity at the NHL level this season, he’s proven to be a winner here too. We are thrilled that he will continue to provide a steady presence in the crease for this team into the future."

Bussi was consistently above the .900 save percentage mark in four previous seasons in the AHL. In 111 career games at that level with the Providence Bruins, he went 63-31-13 with a 2.61 goals-against average, a .915 save percentage, and eight shutouts.

As the Hurricanes tweeted themselves, there'll be plenty more Bus stops to come in the Carolina net.
