San Jose Sharks & Jeff Skinner Agree on Mutual Contract Termination

San Jose Sharks forward Jeff Skinner

The San Jose Sharks and forward Jeff Skinner have decided to part ways, as he has been placed on unconditional waivers for the purpose of mutual contract termination.

Skinner signed a 1-year, $3M deal with the Sharks this past summer. He's now free to sign on with any team as an unrestricted free agent.

The 33-year-old has just six goals and 13 points in 32 games with the Sharks this season. A lower-body injury kept him on the shelf for about three weeks from mid-November to early December.

He was been a healthy scratch for three weeks heading up to the Olympic break. He last played on January 11th.

In 16 NHL seasons, Skinner is a 10-time 20-goal scorer, topping out at 40 in the 2018-19 season with the Buffalo Sabres. Overall, he has played 1,110 NHL regular season games, with 379 goals and 712 points. He's averaged 16:36 of ice time per game, though that has been plummeting the past few years, and was only averaging 12:21 this season in San Jose.
