Flames Trade Rumors: 3 Teams Making Final Trade Offers for Nazem Kadri

The Nazem Kadri sweepstakes have taken a big turn, and it sounds like the Calgary Flames are now fully committed to moving Kadri ahead of the Mar.6 trade deadline.

Earlier this season, Flames' ownership had stepped in to request Kadri not be moved as they were considering the new arena opening in a couple of years, and now with how underperforming the team has been this season, it's all systems go on the trade front.

Kadri, 35, is signed through the 2029 season at $7 million AAV, and he owns a 13-team no-trade list. There's not a ton of contenders who can afford to add Kadri without having to give up a contract in return, but there's certainly been no shortage of interest.

Three teams to keep an eye on include the Detroit Red Wings, Seattle Kraken, and Minnesota Wild. The Wild aren't finished adding up front after landing Quinn Hughes and have been linked to Kadri for weeks. The Red Wings have quietly been aggressive on the trade market and appear set to move the needle this season before the trade deadline, after GM Steve Yzerman sat on his hands last season and got called out by Wings captain Dylan Larkin.

As for the Kraken, they have over $16 million in deadline cap space, they're hanging onto a playoff spot, and it's crucial to the franchise for them to make a significant addition heading the NHL's stretch run. The Kraken own two first-round picks this season, two next, and also have three second-rounders in 2027. Lots of draft capital for the Flames to pick through, but don't expect to see the Kraken move Shane Wright straight up for Kadri.

The Flames are trading Kadri, this we know - now we wait to see if Conroy tries to get ahead of the market and set his own.
