3 Offseason Trade Destinations for Rangers' Braden Schneider
New York Rangers defenseman Braden Schneider will be a trade candidate to watch during the offseason. With the Rangers retooling, Schneider stands out as a prime trade chip for them to dangle.
Because of this, let's look at three teams that could look to acquire Schneider this offseason.
San Jose Sharks
The Sharks were heavily linked to Schneider leading up to the 2026 NHL trade deadline, and it is easy to understand why. At just 24 years old, Schneider would be a fantastic fit on a young Sharks team that is on the rise. The Sharks also have several pending UFA defensemen and should be looking to boost their blueline this summer because of it.
Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens could look to add a right-shot defenseman to their roster this offseason, as they tried ahead of the deadline. If they landed Schneider, he would at least give them another option for their bottom pairing and penalty kill. However, if he hit a new level in Montreal, he also could jump up in their top four if brought in.
Ottawa Senators
The Senators also stand out as a possible offseason landing spot for Schneider. It is no secret that they should be looking to boost the right side of their defense, so it could make sense for them to take a chance on a former top prospect like Schneider.
