Blackhawks Top Prospect Anton Frondell To Make Dubut On Top Line

The Chicago Blackhawks get a first-hand look at another huge piece of their ever-improving future Tuesday night. And not only will top prospect Anton Frondell make his NHL debut, he'll do it on the top line alongside Connor Bedard.

The Blackhawks officially activated him Tuesday morning.

Frondell was the Hawks' No.3 overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. He just finished his season three days ago in the SHL with Djurgårdens IF, and flew immediately overseas to be ready to make his Blackhawks' debut as soon as tonight against the New York Islanders.

At morning skate on Tuesday, he was lined up with Bedard and left winger Ryan Greene. He was also taking reps on the first power play unit.

Frondell had a tremendous season as a teenager in Sweden's top league, with 20 goals and 28 points in 43 games with a plus/minus rating of +15. He became only the fourth 18-year-old in league history to score at least 20 goals in a season, joining Thomas Sandstrom, Markus Naslund and Daniel Sedin.

He also won a gold medal with Team Sweden at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, recording five goals and eight points in seven games. He was named the tournament's top forward.

Now the 18-year-old will take the next big step in his fledgling career, making his NHL debut.

The Blackhawks are 26-31-13 for 65 points, still last place in the Central Division but already four points better than last season with 12 games still to play.
