Doug Armstrong Steps Down From Team Canada
Doug Armstrong has had a busy couple of months. Trying his best to rebuild the St. Louis Blues with an attempt to sell of a number of high-profile pieces, and overseeing Team Canada at the Olympic Games. He has now decided to step down as GM of the latter.

Armstrong has held the Team Canada role since the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
Insider Pierre LeBrun broke the news this morning on TSN, and in The Athletic, and says that the fact that Canada lost in the Gold Medal game to the USA has "nothing to do" with his decision.
“It’s time for a change,” Armstrong told The Athletic on Monday. “I’ve enjoyed every aspect of it. Obviously, you wish you could go out on top. But it would be selfish to want to do it again. It’s such a great experience, and I think more people should enjoy it.”
He did oversee three IIHF World Championship gold medals and two silver medals.
“I’ve enjoyed Team Canada since 2002 when Bob Nicholson gave me an opportunity to work under Lanny McDonald at the World Championship, which was a thrill of a lifetime because of who Lanny is,” Armstrong said. “It just kind of snowballed from there.”
As for a potential replacement for him, at least down the road, Armstrong tabbed the Canadian team's captain, Sidney Crosby, as a “future Team Canada GM”.
Armstrong will also be stepping down as GM of the St. Louis Blues on July 1st, handing the gig over to Alex Steen.
