Sharks Sign Alex Nedeljkovic To Extension
The San Jose Sharks had been rumored to be considering a big-time addition to their goaltending position at this deadline, but instead, they've decided to double down on backup Alex Nedeljkovic. They've signed him to a two-year extension.

The deal is worth $6 million, for a $3 million AAV.
Nedeljkovic is having a solid season backing up starter Yaroslav Askarov, and is actually putting up better numbers. Ned has a .902 save percentage with a 2.83 goals against average, with an 11-9-2 mark in 21 starts (26 appearances).
In nine seasons, he's been solid both as a starter and a backup, for several different teams. In 181 regular-season starts (205 appearances), he has a .903 Sv% and 2.97 GAA. He's also shown strong playoff chops. In his one postseason, in his rookie year with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2021, he posted a 2.17 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage in nine Stanley Cup Playoff games. That regular season, he led the NHL with a .932 Sv% and 1.90 GAA in 23 starts.
From there, he's gone on and played for the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins, in addition to the Sharks.
The 30-year-old was a second-round pick (37th overall) in the 2014 NHL Draft by the Canes.
