New Jersey Devils in advanced trade talks on RHD Simon Nemec
The New Jersey Devils are involved in trade talks surrounding right-handed defenceman Simon Nemec.
TSN's Pierre LeBrun was first on the case and had this to share on Wednesday:
Going to be interesting to see what happens on the Simon Nemec front. Devils are taking calls on the second overall pick from '22. No shortage of teams checking in. New Jersey happy to keep him, but if there's a deal that upgrades their forwards in a real way, they're going to…

Nemec, 22, is a former second-overall pick and hasn't been able to find consistent minutes with the Devils this season, despite recording nine goals, and 21 points in 47 games. Nemec's earning $918,333 this season and is a pending restricted free agent.
It's interesting the Devils are talking trade on Nemec as they also have veteran disgruntled defenceman Dougie Hamilton, who they've been offering in trade talks for weeks.
Moving Nemec could give the Devils a chance to land an impact top-six forward with term on their contract. That seems to be what they've looking for as the team hasn't met expectations this season and are more focused on regrouping for next year.
Keep an eye on the Devils, Nemec could be on the move in the next 48 hours.
