NHL Rumors: 3 Trade Destinations for Flames' Zach Whitecloud
The Calgary Flames are one of the NHL's top sellers to watch leading up to the 2026 NHL trade deadline. One of their most notable trade candidates is defenseman Zach Whitecloud, so let's look at three teams that could look to acquire the right-shot defenseman.
Boston Bruins
The Bruins desperately need another right-shot defenseman to improve their top four. With this, it would not be surprising in the slightest if they made a big push for Whitecloud. He would provide them with an upgrade on their right side over players like Andrew Peeke and Henri Jokiharju. Thus, the Bruins are a team to watch when it comes to Whitecloud.
Buffalo Sabres
The Sabres are another clear potential landing spot for Whitecloud. The Sabres' top goal this deadline is to bring in another right-shot defenseman, as their depth on the right side is not strong enough. If the Sabres acquired him, he would likely slot on their third pairing and be an obvious option for their penalty kill as well.
San Jose Sharks
The Sharks have multiple right-shot defensemen on expiring deals, so it would not be surprising if they targeted a blueliner with term like Whitecloud. He would instantly become one of their top defensemen if acquired and would likely be a candidate for their first pairing because of it. With the Sharks in the playoff race, they should not be afraid to swing a deal for Whitecloud.
