The Kings receive a second-round pick in return.
Foegele was coming off a career-year last season when he found the net 24 times with the Kings, but is struggling this season with just seven goals and nine points in 47 games. He's been a frequent healthy scratch of late, and Kings GM Ken Holland had said he'd be looking to move the 29-year-old.
The two-way middle-six winger has speed and kills penalties. The hope is that a change in scenery will bring back his scoring touch. He broke out two seasons ago while with the Edmonton Oilers, recording his first 20-goal season with 41 points. The Kings signed him to a three-year, $10.5 million free agent deal after that season, and he upped the ante with 24 goals last year. He's still got one season remaining at the $3.5M cap hit.
The metrics show Foegele still having an elite defensive impact this season, even with his offensive struggles.
In 560 NHL regular-season games, he has 111 goals and 218 points with a +30 rating. He's also handed out 690 hits.
