Seattle Kraken Rejected Pittsburgh Penguins Trade Offer
While there were over 20 deadline deals on Friday, one trade that didn't happen was between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Seattle Kraken.
Reports suggest that the Penguins were making multiple trade offers to the Kraken to try and acquire 22-year-old Shane Wright, however, due to the significant price tag, the Kraken held firm, and wouldn't accept anything less.
Speculation is brewing the Penguins offered a first, second, and third-round pick in one package, with two draft picks and goaltending prospect Sergei Murashov and Avery Hayes in another offer. The Kraken had been including Wright in trade offers leading up to the deadline, so it's not surprising to see his name listed as a trade candidate on deadline day. Seattle had offered Wright to the New York Rangers for Artemi Panarin, which the Rangers were open to, but Panarin wouldn't sign an extension in Seattle, and talks broke off.
The Penguins were awfully quiet on deadline day, after growing speculation they were circling in on Wright, and St. Louis Blues center Robert Thomas. The Kraken on the other hand, acquired Bobby McMann from the Toronto Maple Leafs, as they look to continue their push for a Stanley Cup Playoff spot.
Seattle and Wright were also linked to the Blues regarding a Jordan Kyrou trade, however, the Blues decided to keep Kyrou and Thomas, and moved Justin Faulk to the Detroit Red Wings, and Brayden Schenn to the New York Islanders.
