3 Offseason Trade Destinations for Maple Leafs' Simon Benoit

Simon Benoit, Toronto Maple Leafs

With the Toronto Maple Leafs having such a frustrating 2025-26 season, it is very likely that they will be making several changes to their roster this offseason. One trade candidate who should be watched closely during the offseason is defenseman Simon Benoit.

Due to this, let's take a look at three teams that could look to acquire Benoit during the summer now.

San Jose Sharks

The Sharks should be on the hunt for defensive help this offseason, as they have several pending UFA blueliners. With this, Benoit could be a player who grabs their attention. If they acquired him, he would fit nicely on their bottom pairing and penalty kill.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets could be another team to watch when it comes to Benoit. After trading Logan Stanley to the Buffalo Sabres at the deadline, it is clear that they could use another big defenseman who plays a heavy game in their depth. Acquiring Benoit would provide them with just that.

Florida Panthers

The Panthers would also make sense as a suitor for Benoit this summer. They simply need more defensive depth, and Benoit would give them another solid option to work with on their bottom pairing. His $1.35 million cap hit would also make him affordable for Florida, and he would fit into their hard-nosed identity.
