Connor Hellebuyck Rips Jets Season as 'Unacceptable', to Consider His Future
The Winnipeg Jets' most valuable player just put the franchise on notice. At his end-of-season meeting with the media on Friday, Connor Hellebuyck blasted the Jets for how 'unacceptable' this season was, and how it was difficult for him to see an easy way out of the mess they've created, per beat writer Mike McIntyre.
Here's the video of goaltender Connor Hellebuyck being asked if this #NHLJets season will cause him to re-evaluate his future, pausing for ~7 seconds, and then getting into his full answer: pic.twitter.com/Zjr1sLbmnn

That agonizing seven-second pause before answering is as painful as it gets for Jets fans, and was an ominous shot across the bow for the team.
McIntyre called the interview "incredibly raw...emotional...revealing."
Fellow Jets' reporter Mures Ates said it was "stunning, with candor."
Connor Hellebuyck, stunning with candor.

Talked about strengths, weaknesses and how his faith in a Cup has been "challenged." How he loves the fans. How the team was so far from good enough.
Why? What can they do? He's not the expert but:
"I think it didn't work for a reason."
Hellebuyck is a three-time Vezina Trophy winner, and earlier this year became an Olympic Gold Medal winner while also receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his heroics for Team USA at the Milan Games.
He has a career .916 save percentage and 2.58 goals against average, though he posted a career-low .895 Sv% this season on a team that struggled much of the year.
He has four years left on his long-term deal with the Jets at an $8.5M AAV. He'll be going into his age-33 season next year.
