NHL Rumors: 3 Florida Panthers Offseason Goalie Targets
The Florida Panthers will be an interesting team to watch this offseason. After missing the playoffs due to their significant injury trouble, it would not be surprising if they look to upgrade their roster.
One of their biggest questions heading into the offseason is their goaltending situation. Sergei Bobrovsky is a pending unrestricted free agent, so they could be on the hunt for goaltending help if he walks. They also could use an upgrade over backup Daniil Tarasov in general, so let's look at three goalies the Panthers could target this summer.
Anthony Stolarz, Toronto Maple Leafs
Stolarz is a prime trade candidate to watch this offseason, as the Maple Leafs have prospect Dennis Hildeby looking ready for an NHL job. If the Maple Leafs officially make Stolarz available for trade, it would not be shocking in the slightest if the Panthers pursued him. He was fantastic as their backup during the 2023-24 season, as he had a 16-7-2 record, a 2.03 goals-against average, and an NHL-best .925 save percentage.
Connor Ingram, Edmonton Oilers
If the Panthers want to upgrade at the backup position, Ingram could be a good goalie for them to bring in if he hits the free-agent market. The 29-year-old forward proved to be a decent pickup for the Oilers this season, posting a 16-10-3 record, a 2.60 goals-against average, a .899 save percentage, and two shutouts in 32 regular-season games. He also had a .907 save percentage in both 2022-23 and 2023-24, so he would be an interesting goaltender for Florida to take a chance on.
Jesper Wallstedt, Minnesota Wild
If Bobrovsky ends up leaving the Panthers this summer, Wallstedt might be the Panthers' best option to replace him as their starter. The 23-year-old was the subject of trade rumors leading up to the deadline and would have the potential to be a perfect long-term answer for the Panthers if acquired. It would cost the Panthers a lot to get him, though, as he just had a .916 save percentage in 35 games as a rookie for Minnesota this season.
