Maple Leafs' Calle Jarnkrok Finished in Toronto

The Toronto Maple Leafs are going to look like a much different team next season, on and off the ice, and one player who won't be back is veteran forward Calle Jarnkrok.

Jarnkrok, 34, is in the final season of his current contract, which pays him $2.1 million AAV. It was quite surprising to see Brad Treliving not move Jarnkrok ahead of the trade deadline, but should we be that surprised considering Treliving is now out of a job.

As for Jarnkrok, he's lost a step this season and is often behind the play. Head coach Craig Berube isn't a huge fan of Jarnkrok's game, playing him only 11:53 of ice-time per game. Jarnkrok's delivered with six goals and eight points in 55 games.

The Maple Leafs need to reconfigure their entire bottom six, especially with Scott Laughton and Nic Roy both getting dealt before the deadline, and Jarnkrok is surely someone who is going to be replaced. While he was a versatile weapon his first few seasons in Toronto, his production has severely fallen over the last season and a half.

There should be a few teams interested in adding Jarnkrok in July once free agency opens, but don't expect any contract offered to be much more than a one-year deal, at league minimum salary. There's certainly a chance Jarnkrok heads back to Sweden to finish up is pro playing career back home.

Leafs Nation, enjoy these last couple games as they'll be Jarnkrok's last in blue and white.
