NHL Rumors: 3 Free-Agent Destinations for Blue Jackets' Boone Jenner
Boone Jenner is one of the Columbus Blue Jackets' top pending unrestricted free agents (UFAs) heading into the summer. It would be understandable if they looked to keep him around, as he is their captain and a key part of their group. However, if he ends up hitting the market this summer, several teams should look to sign him.
Because of this, let's look at three teams that could look to sign Jenner this summer if he does not sign an extension with Columbus.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers need to upgrade their bottom six this offseason, so it would make a lot of sense if they targeted Jenner this offseason. They have been connected to him in the past, and he would give them a clear answer for their third-line center spot. However, he could also improve the Oilers' bottom six if he played on the wing, so he would be a strong fit on their roster.
Colorado Avalanche
The Avalanche could be another team that pursues Jenner this summer if he becomes a UFA. Due to his versatility, Jenner would be a very good pickup for the Avalanche's bottom six if signed. He would also give them another clear option to work with on both their penalty kill and power play.
Buffalo Sabres
If the Sabres look to upgrade their top nine this summer, Jenner could be a player who grabs their attention. With the Sabres being an exciting team on the rise, bringing in a proven leader who provides a bit of everything on the ice, like Jenner, would not be a bad thing at all for Buffalo.
