NHL Rumors: 3 Free-Agent Destinations for Sharks' Mario Ferraro
The San Jose Sharks took a nice step in the right direction this season, but just missed out on the playoffs. Now, they are entering the offseason with some big decisions to make. One of them is regarding defenseman Mario Ferraro, as the left-shot blueliner is a pending UFA.
If Ferraro ends up hitting the free-agent market instead of re-signing with San Jose, several teams should look to sign him. Because of this, let's look at three clubs that could target Ferraro this summer.
Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers could be a team to keep an eye on if Ferraro hits the market. The 27-year-old would be a nice fit in their top four and would give them another hard-nosed defender to work with. With the Flyers getting back into the playoffs this year, they should be looking to upgrade their roster this summer, and a player like Ferraro would help them do just that.
Colorado Avalanche
The Avalanche have been connected to Ferraro in the past, and it would make sense if they tried to sign him this summer. He would give the left side of their blueline a nice boost if signed and could thrive playing on a top contender like Colorado. He would also give them another clear option for their penalty kill if signed.
Toronto Maple Leafs
The Maple Leafs should be looking to improve their blueline if they hope to be better in 2026-27. They could use another left-shot defenseman in their top four, so a player like Ferraro would have the potential to be a strong fit on their roster.
