NHL Rumors: 3 Ottawa Senators Offseason Defenseman Targets
The Ottawa Senators will certainly be a team to keep an eye on during the summer. One area on their roster that they should aim to improve during the offseason is the right side of their blueline.
Due to this, let's take a look at three right-shot defensemen who the Senators should consider targeting during the offseason.
Darren Raddysh, Tampa Bay Lightning
If Raddysh ends up hitting the free-agent market this summer, it would not be surprising if the Senators were among the teams who targeted him. The 6-foot-1 defenseman would slot nicely in their top four and power play if successfully signed. In 68 games this season with the Bolts, he has set career highs with 21 goals, 46 assists, and 67 points.
Dougie Hamilton, New Jersey Devils
It is no secret that the Devils want to move on from Hamilton, and the Senators could be a good landing spot for him. The 32-year-old would undoubtedly give the Senators' top four a boost and could heat back up next season with the change of scenery. After a slow start to the season, Hamilton has 12 goals and 35 points in 71 games. He also notably has 26 points over his last 32 games, so he can certainly still produce well from the point.
Colton Parayko, St. Louis Blues
If Colton Parayko is willing to waive his no-trade clause during the offseason, the Senators would be wise to pursue him. The 32-year-old would give them a true top-pairing defenseman for their right side and far more stability due to his steady defensive play. He would also be more than a rental for the Sens, as he has a $6.5 million cap hit until the end of the 2029-30 season.
