3 Goalies on Philadelphia Flyers Offseason Radar
Keep an eye on the Philadelphia Flyers this summer, as general manager Daniel Briere will be looking to add a tandem goaltender partner for Daniel Vladar next season.
The Flyers exceeded expectations this season getting to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and now it's on Briere to add around the edges of the roster and get his team in better shape for more noise next spring. Vladar proved he can handle a decent work load and be there in big games, but it's a priority for the Flyers to add another capable 1-B type goalie, who can push Vladar for the starter's crease.
Here's three goalies on the Flyers' radar:
Anthony Stolarz
The Maple Leafs are open for business this summer and the Flyers could be a perfect match to take Stolarz off their hands. The towering tendy is signed through the 2030 season as he has a four-year contract extension Brad Treliving gave him kick in this summer, holding a cap hit of $3.75 million annually. Stolarz does own a 16-team no-trade list, but returning to Philly is very likely on the approved list. His numbers weren't great last season, but that had more to do with the Leafs lack of defensive structure and talent on their back end.
Stuart Skinner
Skinner not expected to receive a contract offer from Kyle Dubas and the Pittsburgh Penguins, and could ironically head to their biggest rival this instead. Skinner's a great fit for the Flyers as he's shown he can win in the playoffs, he's one of the best goalies available on the free-agent market, and he's not going to cost an arm and a leg to sign. Expect a three or four-year deal at around $5 million AAV, which is something the Flyers can afford moving forward.
Jordan Binnington
Binnington is available as the Blues are going with Joel Hofer moving forward, and wouldn't it be a great match to see Binnington in a Flyers jersey, playing in front of the rowdy crowds in Philly. Binnington's proved time and time again he's a big-game goalie who can handle the emotions and massive amounts of pressure, and with the Flyers having several NHL-ready prospects waiting in the wings, there's certainly a good chance these two teams could come to an offseason agreement. Binnington's also been recently linked to the Oilers and Panthers, as there's very little doubt he's returning to the Blues.
