NHL Rumors: 3 Free-Agent Destinations for Lightning's Corey Perry
Corey Perry is entering the summer as a pending unrestricted free agent. If the 40-year-old forward hits the free-agent market this summer instead of re-signing with the Tampa Bay Lightning or retiring, he should generate interest.
Due to this, let's look at three teams that could look to sign Perry during the offseason.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers missed Perry this season, and it would not be particularly surprising if they tried to bring him back during the summer. If they signed him in free agency, he would be a nice pickup for their bottom six. His 17 goals and 37 points in 72 games this season split between the Los Angeles Kings and Lightning show that he can still provide decent secondary scoring, which is a need for Edmonton.
Colorado Avalanche
If Perry wants the chance to go after another Stanley Cup, the Avalanche stand out as a clear potential landing spot. The Avalanche are one of the NHL's best teams, and they also could use more offensive production in their bottom six. With this, Perry would have the potential to be a nice pickup for them during the summer on a cheap one-year deal.
Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights could be another team to keep an eye on if Perry hits the market this summer. He would be a strong fit in their bottom six and would also give them another player with a ton of playoff experience. This would not be a bad thing for a Vegas club that is in its Stanley Cup window.
