Red Wings & Rangers Emerging as Potential Trade Partners
After a terrible finish to the 2025-26 season, the Detroit Red Wings extended their playoff drought to 10 years. With this, the Red Wings should be looking to make some upgrades to their roster during the offseason.
One of their biggest needs is another top-six center, specifically for their second-line spot.
When looking at trade candidates around the NHL, New York Rangers center Vincent Trocheck stands out as a prime potential target for the Red Wings.
The Red Wings were heavily connected to Trocheck leading up to this year's deadline, and it makes sense when noting that they need a 2C upgrade. With this, it would not be surprising in the slightest if the Red Wings targeted him again this summer. He would have the potential to be a perfect addition to their second line, as he chips in offensively, plays solid defensively, and throws the body.
Trocheck appeared in 67 games during this season with the Rangers, where he had 16 goals, 37 assists, and 53 points. With numbers like these, he would have the potential to be a strong pickup for a Red Wings club that is looking to take that next step in 2026-27.
It will be interesting to see if the Red Wings successfully land Trocheck this offseason from the Rangers from here.
