Maple Leafs Make More Front Office Moves, Cut Ties With 2 AGMs

The Toronto Maple Leafs front office is continuing to take shape for the summer. After the hiring of new GM John Chayka and senior executive advisor Mats Sundin, the first to go of the old guard still remaining was Shane Doan, a special advisor to the GM.

The next moves, on Sunday, are to cut ties with two assistant GMs, Brandon Pridham and Derek Clancey. Pridham was the team's "salary cap specialist", while Clancey was the AGM of Player Personnel.

Chayka delivered a thank you to the two for their services in an official team release:

“Brandon has played an integral role in the organization over the past 12 seasons. We are sincerely appreciative of Brandon’s professionalism, commitment and dedication to the Maple Leafs throughout his tenure,” Chayka said. “Derek also brought valuable experience and insight to our hockey operations department during his time with the club. We thank both Brandon and Derek for their contributions to the organization and wish them and their families all the very best moving forward.”

As Chayka notes, Pridham has been around the Toronto front office for a long time. How long? He was originally brought in to serve as an assistant to then-GM Dave Nonis. Several GMs have come and gone since then.

Clancey had been with the club since 2023.

These will not be the last changes, of course, to the structure of the Leafs management team. And that's not even including a new head coach and assistants that need to be hired.

That, plus the No. 1 Draft Pick next month to consider, and the future of Auston Matthews, and Chayka & Sundin have a very busy summer ahead of them, to say the least.
