New Insider Top 25 Trade Targets Board Has Maple Leafs' Morgan Rielly At #1, Plus 6 Goalies
Here's a look at the top 10, plus the other goalies on the list:
- Morgan Rielly, D, Toronto
- Jordan Kyrou, F, St. Louis
- Jake DeBrusk, F, Vancouver
- Jordan Binnington, G, St. Louis
- Vincent Trocheck, C, New York Rangers
- Sebastian Cossa, G, Detroit
- Blake Coleman, F, Calgary
- Kent Johnson, F, Columbus
- Adin Hill, G, Vegas
- Dougie Hamilton, D, New Jersey...
- Sam Montembault, G, Montreal (#11)
- Elvis Merzlikins, G, Columbus (#15)
- Devon Levi, G, Buffalo (#23)
Seravalli reasons that Rielly belongs at #1:
"When GM John Chayka hammered home the point in his introductory press conference that the Maple Leafs needed to dramatically improve on the backend, the clock started ticking on Morgan Rielly's tenure in Toronto."
Yes, the longest-tenured Leaf does have a full no-trade clause, and has said he wants to stay, but the new regime will do its best to talk him into the time having arrived for a fresh start—both for Rielly and for Toronto's blueline.
As for the goaltenders, Seravalli calls Adin Hill "the least consequential castoff" for the Vegas Golden Knights to address their serious cap issues after the season. Binnington, of course, has been a trade candidate for over a year now, and Cossa has recently joined the netminders likely to move list, with the insider saying that his "overseasoning in Detroit appears to have backfired on GM Steve Yzerman, now somehow behind Trey Augustine and Michal Postava in the pecking order."
We could easily add another goalie to this list, from the Toronto troika of Anthony Stolarz, Joseph Woll and Dennis Hildeby. They cannot afford to keep all three, and Chayka will be dealing from depth in moving one of them. The only question is, which one of the three deserves to be on the Trade Targets board?
