NHL Rumors: Sharks Linked to Rangers Defenseman

Braden Schneider, NY Rangers

The San Jose Sharks' top objective of the offseason should be to improve their defensive group. They need to make multiple upgrades to it, and they are also entering the summer with many pending unrestricted free agent defensemen.

One player who the Sharks certainly could kick tires on this offseason is New York Rangers defenseman Braden Schneider. The Sharks were among the teams connected to Schneider leading up to the deadline, and it would make sense if they targeted him again.

It is no secret that the Sharks need to improve the right side of their defense if they hope to be a playoff team next season. With this, it would make sense if they looked to add Schneider. He would slot very nicely in their top four if acquired and would also give them a shutdown defenseman to work with on their penalty kill.

Furthermore, at just 24 years old, Schneider would be an excellent long-term fit on a Sharks club that is on the rise. With this, there could be a great match here between San Jose and Schneider.

Schneider appeared in 82 games during this season with the Rangers, where he had two goals, 16 assists, 18 points, 141 blocks, and 163 hits.
