Maple Leafs Discussing Multiple Significant Trades
Elliotte Friedman: Re Maple Leafs: I think John Chayka is sitting on one or two other moves that he could do to really change his team - 32 Thoughts (6/21)
The Leafs are open to trading several players off their roster, including Morgan Rielly, Brandon Carlo, Anthony Stolarz, Nick Robertson, and Matias Maccelli. There's been a lot of Matthew Knies discussions as well, but that appears to be a long shot at this point. Especially with the Chicago Blackhawks moving the No.4 overall pick.
As far as the trade candidates go, Rielly submitted a list of teams he'd be open to a trade to, which was apparently very Western Conference heavy, and included the San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks. Rielly is the longest tenured Leaf and it appears he'll be enjoying a change of scenery this offseason.
Carlo has been a name that's heated up as of late. The towering defenceman has one year left on his deal and hasn't really found his legs as a Leaf. Carlo was acquired by former GM Brad Treliving for a first and fourth-round pick, and Fraser Minten.
Robertson and Maccelli are both restricted free agents, and with Easton Cowan expected to play a major role next season, and Gavin McKenna on the way, both wingers are expected to be moved before Friday's draft.
Lastly, Stolarz. While Joseph Woll's already been traded, Stolarz is out there and has been linked to several teams, including the Florida Panthers, Edmonton Oilers, New Jersey Devils, and Sharks.
The Maple Leafs are making moves, get ready Leafs Nation, there's some big news coming.
