2 Trade Destinations Linked To Kraken's Shane Wright

The Shane Wright trade conversation has carried over from the deadline into the offseason, and two teams have emerged as attached to it.

The Fourth Period released its first Summer Trade Watch board for the 2026 offseason, listing the league's top trade candidates along with the teams linked to each, and Wright was among the players included.

"As TFP first reported earlier in the season, Wright is available and is also open to a change of scenery," the outlet wrote. "Teams reportedly linked: Vancouver, Nashville."

Why Seattle Is Open to Moving Him

The Kraken have been searching for a first-line player to acquire since last summer, and per The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, Wright is being dangled as trade bait.

Seattle's preference is to package Wright in a larger deal for a top-tier forward rather than simply moving him for assets, and the front office continues to scour the market for an upgrade.

That means any team pursuing Wright is likely competing not just on the value of their offer, but on whether Seattle can find the kind of established star it wants in return.

Wright had a difficult 2025-26 season, posting 12 goals and 27 points in 74 games.

That was a notable step back from his 2024-25 campaign, when he scored 19 goals and 44 points in 79 games, showing he already has a productive NHL season on his resume.

The 2022 fourth-overall pick is only 22 years old, which is the entire basis for the interest.

Why the Canucks Make Sense

Vancouver is in the middle of a rebuild, with Brock Boeser, Elias Pettersson, and Jake DeBrusk among the most notable trade candidates on the roster.

While the Canucks are tearing things down, they should also be open to adding younger players who can help long-term, and Wright fits that profile precisely.

The Canucks need to build their next core, and a former top prospect with legit upside who is only 22 is exactly the kind of player a rebuilding team should target.

If Wright can rediscover the form that produced 44 points two seasons ago, and made him an exceptional status player in the OHL, he could become a long-term answer in Vancouver's top six.

Why Nashville Fits

The Predators are the only other team The Fourth Period named in connection with Wright, and their situation has positioned them as a candidate for a retool.

Nashville committed heavily to expensive free agents in recent years and now carries a past-their-prime core, with eight of their 10 highest-paid players over 30 and the team ranking near the bottom of the league in points percentage over the past three seasons.

Adding a 22-year-old center with top-six upside would give the Predators a younger building block as they navigate the transition away from their aging roster.

The Canucks and Predators are unlikely to be alone in the Wright sweepstakes.

Wright's youth, draft pedigree, and a proven 44-point season makes him a target for both contenders and rebuilding teams, which means Seattle should have no shortage of suitors.
