NHL Trade: Maple Leafs Trade Joseph Woll To Flyers For 3-Asset Package

GM John Chayka has made his first big move with the Toronto Maple Leafs, trading goaltender Joseph Woll to the Philadelphia Flyers for a three-asset package that includes young defenseman Emil Andrae.

The Leafs also receive goaltender Samuel Ersson and a third-round selection in the 2026 NHL Draft, while also sending d-man Simon Benoit to Philly.

As noted by David Alter, Andrae, a former second-round selection who is a restricted free agent, is the key to this deal. He's a mobile, puck-moving defenseman who, as Alter suggests, could be a good addition on the second power play unit.

Ersson is also a pending RFA. This trade offers the Leafs some cap and roster flexibility.

Flyers obtain Joseph Woll from Leafs to complete their solid goaltending tandem

For the Flyers, they had made finding a legit goaltender to pair with Dan Vladar a priority this offseason, and they now have a sturdy 1A/1B tandem between the pipes. They have had Woll on their radar for some time.

He has two years to run on his contract with a $3.67M AAV. He posted an .898 save percentage and a 3.34 goals against average last season.
