NHL Trade Rumors: Maple Leafs' Morgan Rielly Open To Joining 5 Teams
Morgan Rielly is on the move this summer.
The longest-tenured Toronto Maple Leaf isn't expected to be back with the hockey club next season, and there's been lots of speculation brewing lately that Rielly recently submitted a list of five teams he'd be open to being traded to.
The list is rumored to be the Seattle Kraken, Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers, Anaheim Ducks, and San Jose Sharks. Leafs GM John Chayka is looking to reshape his blueline this summer and Rielly's name has been making the rounds on the trade market.
Lots of rumours around Morgan Rielly's future with the Leafs and a potentially trade to another team. Genuinely skilled with the puck as a distributor, genuinely very poor defensively and always has been. #LeafsForever pic.twitter.com/TZWoIMGLxC

Rielly, 32, has four seasons left at $7.5 million AAV, and if you ask anyone from Leafs Nation, they'll say it's certainly time for a divorce. Rielly needs a change of scenery about as bad as anyone in the league right now, and last season had one of the worst years defensively at 5 vs. 5 as anyone in the league.
Rielly finished last season with 11 goals and 36 points in 78 games, averaging 21:08 of ice-time per game, Rielly's least amount of playing time since the 2014 season. Several Maple Leafs asked for more mobile defencemen during their exit interviews, who are mobile and can move the puck, and even though Rielly's certainly not the worst option, doesn't mean he'll be back.
Look for Chayka to give in on a Rielly deal, and focus on not retaining any salary on the contract. Moving Rielly for a prospect and a draft pick seems very likely at this point, or a third-line center who can help reshape the Leafs' bottom six.
Rielly's on the move this summer, and many people around Toronto are A-Ok with it.
