NHL Trade Rumors: Sabres & Flyers Linked To Offseason Trade

The Philadelphia Flyers are making a ton of trade calls trying to land a defenceman, and it turns out the Buffalo Sabres are quietly emerging as a trade partner.

The Flyers have had trade interest in Bowen Byram for quite sometime, and word is general manager Daniel Briere has been in contact with the Sabres about a potential swap including Owen Tippett. The Sabres are in the market for top-six wingers as Alex Tuch is likely moving on this summer. Tippett's name has been out on the trade market, linked to the Sabres, along with the Edmonton Oilers.

Byram's name has been involved in trade talks for quite some time now, as the Sabres are looking to reshape their blueline this summer. The 25-year-old Byram has just one season left on his deal at $6.2 million AAV, and doesn't hold any trade protection. Byram recorded 42 points in 82 games last season and would immediately give the Flyers a serious boost on their blueline.

Frank Seravalli: The Avalanche and Flyers were talking about Cutter Gauthier when they had to move him; the Flyers were looking for Bowen Byram for Cutter Gauthier straight up - Frankly Hockey (6/5)

With the arrival of Porter Martone, and with Tyson Foerster already in the mix, Tippett's quickly become expendable and makes complete sense as a target for the Sabres. The speedy winger recorded 28 goals and 51 points in 81 games last season, while earning $6.2 million AAV.

David Pagnotta: We know that Philly wants to shore themselves up the middle and they're looking to fix their blueline, so I would imagine they're gonna try to use Owen Tippett or another asset like him to fill one of those voids - Oilersnation Everyday (6/2)

Don't be shocked to see the Flyers and Sabres doing business together. Over the course of the next three weeks there's going to be a ton of movement around the league, and these two teams are going to be very involved.
