Significant Development on Robert Thomas Trade Sweepstakes
St. Louis Blues' star Robert Thomas's name has been linked to just about every team in the NHL that's seeking a top-flight center. He was reportedly on the trade block at the deadline back in March, and nearly everyone around the league expected that to continue this offseason.
But according to plugged-in St. Louis insider Andy Strickland, we can all forget about it. He reports that Thomas will not be going anywhere.
Robert Thomas trade rumors can be put to rest. The #stlblues are not looking to move their #1 center. Expect Thomas to be on the roster when training camp begins in September.

Per Strickland, "Robert Thomas trade rumors can be put to rest. The Blues are not looking to move their #1 center. Expect Thomas to be on the roster when training camp begins in September."
And there we have it.
Teams that are dying to find themselves a top-line or top-six center will have to start looking elsewhere. This report will likely boost the trade value of several other top end centers wo either are, or could be, on the market.
- Dylan Larkin, Detroit Red Wings (who just entered the market with his trade request this past week)
- Vincent Trocheck, NY Rangers
- Mason McTavish, Anaheim Ducks
- Elias Pettersson, Vancouver Canucks
- Nico Hischier, NJ Devils, (though pretty unlikely)
Thomas said after the deadline passed in March that he was never approached by the Blues about waiving his no-move clause, nor does he want to go anywhere.
The elite two-way center finished this past year with his fourth point-per-game season out of the past five, with 25 goals and 64 points in 64 games. He also had a +22 rating.
