Calgary Flames Still Fielding Trade Calls On Two Players
Per David Pagnotta, the Flames continue to take trade calls on players, with center Morgan Frost and defenseman Zach Whitecloud among those still generating interest around the league.
"Morgan Frost's name still out there," the report noted. "They have others they're willing to listen on. There are teams interested in Whitecloud still, and so on and so on. So this is going to be an interesting summer."
A Continuing Sell-Off
The interest comes as Calgary continues to tweak its roster around a rebuild.
The Flames have already made significant moves in 2026, trading Rasmus Andersson to Vegas, MacKenzie Weegar to Utah, and Nazem Kadri to Colorado while moving on from core leader Blake Coleman.
Zach Whitecloud’s defensive skills make him a valuable addition to any NHL blueline. Could the Montreal Canadiens be a logical fit for Whitecloud, or will the Calgary Flames prioritize acquiring more assets in a potential deal? Let’s discuss. #Flames pic.twitter.com/KE1swPIMGP

Those deals stockpiled an impressive collection of draft capital, giving Calgary two first-round picks in each of the next three seasons.
The expectation is that more moves could come, with the report suggesting sporadic movement could pick up as free agents come off the board and the market settles.
The Frost Factor
Frost is a logical trade candidate given his contract situation.
The 27-year-old center is entering the final season of his deal in 2026-27 and is coming off a career year, scoring a career-high 22 goals and adding 43 points.

That production makes him a player Calgary could sell high on this summer, and his position down the middle would generate plenty of calls given the perpetual demand for centers.
Frost was acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers alongside Joel Farabee midway through the 2024-25 season and has been a mainstay in Calgary's middle six.
The Whitecloud Situation
Whitecloud has been in the rumor mill since the day the Flames acquired him in the Andersson trade.
The 29-year-old right-shot defenseman plays a heavy, physical game and logs top-four minutes, making him an appealing target for contenders, especially at his modest $2.75 million cap hit that runs through the 2027-28 season.
Per The Win Column, the Anaheim Ducks have been persistently calling on Whitecloud, as they look to rebuild a right side of their defense depleted by the departures of John Carlson, Jacob Trouba, and Radko Gudas.
That gives Calgary leverage, as the Ducks are unlikely to find a comparable cost-controlled top-four defenseman elsewhere.
Whitecloud is the only player in Calgary's current lineup with a Stanley Cup ring, won with Vegas in 2023, and quickly became an important figure both on the ice and in the community, meaning the Flames feel no pressure to move him unless an offer blows them away.
The Bottom Line
Calgary GM Craig Conroy is in an enviable position.
The Flames are firmly in seller mode but under no financial pressure to make a move, allowing them to listen on nearly everyone and only act when a deal makes long-term sense.
With the free-agent class thinned out and the salary cap rising, teams may increasingly turn to the trade market to fill needs, and Calgary has veterans other clubs want.
