Connor Bedard On Patrick Kane Signing With Blackhawks: 'It Would Be Incredible'
Connor Bedard wants Showtime to return to the windy city.
"Hopefully (Kane) decides to come back (to Chicago)," Bedard said. "You talk about the legacy aspect of it, but just as a team, he would make us a way better team. He's still an amazing player. I don't know if this is the best pitch, but hopefully he comes back and we can play together, for sure."
The Chicago Blackhawks superstar, fresh off shoulder surgery and a five-year contract extension, was recently asked about the potential return of Patrick Kane. The former Blackhawks great is still a free agent without a contract for next season, meanwhile, multiple reports state Kane is considering the Blackhawks, or his hometown Buffalo Sabres.
Bedard made it very clear, he'd love to play alongside one of the franchise's, and game's greats. "I don't know what I can say to persuade his decision, but obviously we'd all be so excited to have player like that but also a guy like that," Bedard told reporters Monday, including NHL.com's Tracey Myers. "I can't imagine his first game back at the (United Center with the Blackhawks), the reaction he'd get and how much juice that would bring to not only our team but our fans as well. That would be incredible to play with him and learn from him."
Kane recorded 57 points in 67 games last season and still has plenty left in the tank, despite being written off after multiple lower-body surgeries. With Dylan Larkin's trade request, and new management coming in Detroit, it's no surprise that Kane isn't interested in re-signing with the Red Wings.
Bedard and company are hopeful the future hall-of-famer is interested in finishing his career where it all started.
