Nashville
If he becomes a legit top-six center as some feel, this will be a tremendous contract for the Predators.
Nashville pounced on Bourque on July 1st when it became obvious that the Dallas Stars wouldn't be able to afford him under their tight cap constraints. The Stars sent the young forward, along with defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin, to the Predators in exchange for Nashville’s own 2nd round pick in 2027 and Vegas’ 3rd round pick in 2028.
Bourque projected for top-six duty in Nashville, signs long-term deal
The early projections have the 24-year-old Bourque centering the second line in Nashville, a big promotion after his time in the bottom six on a stacked Dallas team the past couple of years.
He plays a strong two-way game, but has the playmaking ability to be a strong asset in the top-six. He improved considerably across the board in his second NHL season, nearly doubling his goal output from 11 to 20, while going from 25 points in his rookie year to 41 this past season. He also logged a career-high 15:29 average time on ice and posted a +6 rating.
Bourque was a first-round pick of the Dallas Stars in the 2020 NHL Draft (30th overall). He spent a couple of seasons honing his skills in the AHL, and was top league performer in 2023-24, with 77 points in 71 regular season games, and 11 points in seven playoff contests.
