Report: Red Wings Organization Furious With Dylan Larkin
Helene St. James: Re Dylan Larkin trade request/Red Wings: That organization is extremely upset, he signed to an 8 year deal that was frontloaded; his actual is salary, they already paid him 31m...the most he makes the rest of the way is like 8 million - Jason Gregor Show (7/14)
Larkin, 30, is owed $8.7 million AAV through the 2031 season and has submitted a list of four teams he'd approve a trade to, including the Dallas Stars, Carolina Hurricanes, Minnesota Wild, and Vegas Golden Knights. Unfortunately for Larkin, all four of these teams are in a cap crunch, and adding Larkin and his salary are not realistic at this time. There was a ton of speculation of the Stars swapping Jason Robertson for Larkin, but Robertson made it clear to the Red Wings it would take something special for him to sign long term, even with living close by in the offseason.
Larkin remains a Red Wing, at least for now, as the organization looks to hire a new GM. Yzerman is a special advisor now and out of the day to day. As for Larkin, he continues to be a Red Wing, and is hopeful a move is coming in the next month or so.
