Sharks' Michael Misa On San Jose's Future: 'Building Something Special'
Are the San Jose Sharks the team to watch heading into the 2026-27 NHL season? San Jose Sharks forward Michael Misa thinks so.
"I think we're building something pretty special," Misa said, per NHL.com's Mike Zeisberger. "I think you saw it a bit last year. We were right there for the playoffs. I think we're going to take another step this year."
GM Mike Grier has been busy of late, adding some proven talent throughout his entire roster. Grier was busy adding forward Mason Marchment and defensemen Jacob Trouba, Darnell Nurse, and Michael Kesselring. Keep an eye on the Sharks, they could be a good futures value bet to win the Stanley Cup next season.
The former 2025 second-overall pick enjoyed a fine rookie season last year, recording 21 points in 45 games, and heading into this season, should be playing a much bigger role among the team's top six. The Sharks have Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith making up their top two core players, but they've also landed the No.2 pick at June's draft, selecting Ivar Stenberg, who many referred to as the best all around player in the draft. Misa knows, adding Stenberg to an already loaded talent pool could push the Sharks over the hump.
The Sharks finished just four points out of a Stanley Cup Playoff spot last year, and Misa knows this team is capable of making the jump. "I'm excited to get back," Misa said. "With all the new guys we've got coming in, just looking forward to (getting) started. Mike and his staff have done a great job of building something."
