Calgary Flames sign Alex Nylander to one-year contract
Alex Nylander knows how to impress a front office. After joining the Calgary Flames on a professional tryout agreement before the start of camp, Nylander has now inked a one-year deal, worth $850,000.
Nylander has appeared in 126 NHL games over his career, including spending time with the Sabres, Blackhawks, Penguins, Blue Jackets, and Maple Leafs, Nylander has scored 25 goals and 49 points. He’s also posted 141 goals and 307 points in 459 career AHL contests.
The deal is a two-way contract, and it's going to be tough for Nylander to carve himself out a permanent role on the big club, however, he's shown enough skill throughout training camp to stick around.Homecoming 🙌

Nylander, 28, recently recorded one assist in Calgary's 4-3 shootout win over the Seattle Kraken Thursday night. Nylander is the younger brother of Toronto Maple Leafs' William Nylander, and the son of former NHLer Michael Nylander. He was originally selected with the eighth overall pick of the 2016 NHL Draft, by the Buffalo Sabres.
With this contract being a two-way deal, when Nylander is playing AHL games, he'll earn $250,000 AAV. A very far minimum guarantee from the Flames front office. What many folks don't realize is that Nylander, and his brother Willy, were both born in Calgary, so yes, it is a homecoming of sorts. They were however raised in Sweden, but their Dad had his two boys while a member of the Flames.
