Done Deal: Adam Fantilli & Columbus Blue Jackets Come To Terms on 6-Year Deal

It's a six-year contract with a $13.75 million AAV for the Jackets' top-line center.
The deal comes in nearly identical to the recent Cutter Gauthier extension, just a shade above. The Blue Jackets win out with term, as they buy out two UFA years.
“Adam Fantilli has all of the tools you look for in a player – speed, size, skill – along with a competitive drive to succeed," said GM Don Waddell. "He is one of the most exciting young players in the NHL and a big part of what we are building in Columbus, so this is a very exciting day for our organization and our fans.”
Fantilli, the No. 3 overall selection in the same 2023 NHL Draft that produced Connor Bedard and Leo Carlsson, has now joined his draft classmates with a new deal.
The summer-long delay could largely be attributed to the $18M AAV offer sheet that Carlsson signed, and was eventually matched by the Anaheim Ducks. That completely changed the dynamic of discussions between Fantilli & the Blue Jackets.
But all's well that ends well, and Fantilli will be in camp in time to get ready for the team's season opener, one week from today.
In 213 career games with Columbus, he has 67 goals and 73 assists for 140 points, while averaging 17:37 of ice time. Last season, he had a career-high 59 points with 24 goals and 139 hits.
