Per Kevin Kurz in The Athletic, the Flyers were told not to bother.
The Flyers checked in on Larkin after his trade request became public, but were told they weren’t on his list of acceptable destinations.
To this point, we know that the Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights and Florida Panthers are on Larkin's 'acceptable' trade list, with the Dallas Stars as a potential 4th team.
But the Flyers? Whether it be a geographical concern or a statement on Larkin's thoughts about the team's ability to contend soon for a Stanley Cup, they just don't cut the mustard for the Red Wings captain.
As for his first Preferred Three, none of those teams appear interested enough to offer Detroit anything they're willing to bite on, and Larkin remains stuck in neutral in the Motor City with training camp barreling down on us in just over a week.
Besides, even if any of those teams DID wake up tomorrow and have something of substance to offer, there's nobody in place in the Wings' front office to complete a deal with. The team has still not named a successor to former general manager and hockey ops boss Steve Yzerman.
They also learned this week that a frontrunner under consideration for that job has pulled his name out of the competition.
Regarding the Flyers, this is the second big, splashy move they've attempted this offseason, as they famously (or infamously, depending on your point of view) signed Leo Carlsson to that earth-shattering $18M AAV offer sheet that the Anaheim Ducks ultimately matched.
