Dylan Larkin Will NOT Be Skating At Red Wings Camp After Latest Development

The latest development in the Dylan Larkin saga in Motown is that the former captain will not be skating when the Detroit Red Wings hit the ice at training camp. But it's not a hold-out.

Interim GM Shawn Horcoff told the media Wednesday afternoon that Larkin sustained an upper-body injury earlier this week during off-ice training and will not be available on-ice for the start of camp. He will apparently be there, but won't be taking part in on-ice activities.

Larkin was stripped of his captaincy after a chaotic summer in which he informed the Red Wings that he wanted to be traded, with five years still to run on his eight-year deal.

He gave only a handful of teams that he'd accept a trade to, and none of them have stepped forward with an offer the Wings deem as acceptable for their longtime top-line center.

The 30-year-old had been the team's captain for nearly six years, but with the uncertainty over his future, leaving the on-ice leadership to others was felt to be the best route forward.
