Free-Agent Michael Bunting Linked To 3 Teams

Michael Bunting remains unsigned with just over a week before training camps open, so expect to see the free-agent winger sign a one-year deal in the very near future. And, from the sounds of it, there's one Western Conference, and two Eastern Conference teams on his radar.

Bunting is expected to sign a one-year deal before the 2026-27 season for around $2 million AAV, and it's a bit shocking to see his name still on the free-agent list, despite lots of interest over the summer. Bunting spent last season split between the Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars, combining for 14 goals, and 19 assists, in 74 games. 

Bunting is expected to hear from the Vancouver Canucks, Boston Bruins, and Columbus Blue Jackets, as these three teams have recently been linked to signing the pesky forward. The Canucks could use him as a veteran to push some of their younger forwards down the lineup, and he'd be a great trade chip to dangle to contending teams ahead of the deadline.

The Bruins would love to add another middle-six winger to their mix. Bunting's in-your-face style of play would mesh well in Boston, and he'd likely quickly become a fan favorite based on his game. The Bruins have the needed cap space to make this deal work under the cap.

The Blue Jackets are trying to keep Zach Werenski happy and haven't really added much talent up front to try and spark some offense. With Boone Jenner heading to Washington, it's going to be a much different look and feel to this Blue Jackets team, so adding an experienced veteran like Bunting, who brings his lunchbox mentality to the rink each and every day, it could be a nice addition for their group.

Keep an eye on these three teams, and expect to see Bunting sign on the dotted line within the next few days.
