Huge Signing Announced For The Minnesota Wild
Bill Guerin has signed a multi-year contract extension as GM of the Minnesota Wild, sources told ESPN.

Emily Kaplan broke the news that Guerin has signed a multi-year contract extension to remain as GM of the Wild.
The news comes just one week after head coach John Hynes was given a shiny new extension as well.
So a lot of off-the-ice contracts signed, sealed and delivered in Minnesota, but nothing yet for Hughes.

In his seven years at the helm in Minnesota, Guerin has led the team to six playoff appearances, and won the 2026 NHL GM of the Year award. He's made a couple of huge splashes the past couple of years. He was able to sign Kirill Kaprizov to a then-record-breaking $17M AAV deal to keep him with the team long-term, and followed that up last season with the blockbuster trade to acquire Hughes.
He was also the architect behind the building of the U.S. men’s hockey team that won Olympic gold in February.
Guerin gets extension done... for himself
Hughes showed up at training camp this past week and wasn't going to be pressured into making any announcements about his own extension. He was calm, cool and collected as he reiterated his desire to do things on his own time. Though some of his statements certainly should have somewhat calmed the nerves of Wild fans. Like when he told the media, regarding his desire to play one day with the two brothers, "I'm not going to sacrifice a great spot for me (just) to play ... with them."
Hughes, if he is to sign in Minny, will name his price and term, and Guerin will comply, whatever it might be.
